What do these jobs involve?
Care Homes and Nursing Homes
A care home is an establishment providing accommodation for service users (patients)
and help with their personal or nursing care.
A homecare agency sends careworkers to visit one or more people at their home at
different times of the day or night. They may also help careworkers find employment
with private individuals. Some homecare agencies may be part of an ‘extra-care housing’
or ‘housing with care’ scheme.
"Live-In" Homecare Agencies
This type of homecare agency sends careworkers to live in someone else’s home, usually
for a few days or several weeks at a time.
Housing Support Services
Housing support covers a range of activities that help people manage their accommodation.
It could include giving people advice on budgeting or paying their debts; assistance
with benefit claims; maintaining the security of their accommodation; or general
counselling and advice.
A nurses’ agency arranges for nurses to work in hospitals, care homes or their patients’
own homes. A nurses’ agency may also help nurses find permanent employment with
another person or organisation.
